A paradise of orchids located just half an hour from the southern outskirts of Quito, in the Km 20 of the route Aloag – Santo Domingo towards the Pacific Coast, on the Western Cordillera and part of the Illinizas Reserve, we will find this mountain refuge called Bombolí Cloud Forest.
The Ecological Reserve Bombolí consists of 110 acres of primary forest and 80 acres of secondary forest at an altitude of 3,200 meters above sea level. Here we can observe over 200 species of orchids, 4 different types of ferns, more than 150 species of birds, beautiful waterfalls, over 10 km of trails with many species of flora and fauna. With that a doubt Bombolí is a great place to get some relaxing time and be surrounded by nature and peace.
This beautiful cloud forest is cared for by an Ecuadorian couple who firmly believes in the conservation and preservation of nature. Oswaldo (Oswaldito) Haro Aguirre, 72, and his wife Mariana (Marianita) Pérez, 62, bought this property over 34 years ago with only one goal in mind, to restore the land. Never did they imagine that the reserve would gain such recognition.
